Since

Abu Kamara — Our First Beneficiary

From Extended Detention to Bail

Abu Kamara was arrested in Kambia District in 2014 in connection with a murder case and transferred to Pademba Road Correctional Centre under protective custody.

Hope Behind Bars Sierra Leone became aware of concerns surrounding the length of his detention and his access to due legal process. The organization engaged in legal support and advocacy efforts.

Following our intervention, Abu Kamara was granted bail after an extended period of detention dating from 14 February 2014. His case strengthened our resolve to expand legal assistance and advocacy.

His case represents the importance of legal access, timely review, and the belief that meaningful intervention can change lives.

Supporting Reintegration

Many beneficiaries face difficult transitions after release — lack of shelter, stigma, unemployment, and uncertainty.

Rehabilitation Centre

Temporary accommodation and transitional support at #3 JSK Drive, Juba, helping beneficiaries regain stability and prepare for society.

Education in Corrections

Advocating for structured educational opportunities that encourage literacy, personal growth, and preparation for successful reintegration.

Community Connections

Partnering with community stakeholders, faith-based organizations, and employers to build pathways for long-term successful reintegration.

Expanding Our Impact

We remain committed to supporting vulnerable detainees, strengthening rehabilitation, expanding education, and restoring dignity for all.

The People Behind the Mission

Our leadership is guided by a commitment to justice, dignity, rehabilitation, accountability, and second chances.
